A good sofa will offer you years of comfort so it's important to protect it.

Our handy tips will help you to look after your sofa and enjoy it for many years to come!

Maintain your sofa regularly

Everyday soiling occurs from a wide range of things including clothing, shoes, children, pets, body and hair oils, general household dust and airborne contaminants from cooking and even air-conditioning systems.

Fabrics should be vacuumed regularly. Vacuuming regularly using the correct vacuum heads for upholstery and crevices is absolutely the best way to keep your new sofa clean and looking like new. If not vacuumed regularly, everyday soiling will settle between the individual fibres of the fabric and eventually discolour and damage your sofa.

PU should be cleaned on a regular basis using a clean damp cloth moistened with warm water. If not cleaned regularly, everyday soiling will settle and eventually discolour or damage the PU on your product.

Flip your cushions

If your sofa has reversible cushions interchange and flip them over every time you vacuum.

Steam or Dry Clean

Fabric should be steam or dry clean your sofa regularly to maintain the fabric e.g. every 6 or 12 months (check care label on sofa for details). PU should never be steam or dry cleaned.

Keep out of direct sunlight

Almost every fabric will fade or lighten in colour over time. The extent of damage depends on the location, exposure, intensity of light, colour, types of dyes, fabrics and yarns used. To prolong the life of your new sofa keep out of direct sunlight if possible.

When accidents occur follow these simple steps:

1. Act immediately.
2. Carefully remove the bulk of the substance.
3. Blot the stained area with a dry, white, clean cloth. Do not rub as this will spread the stain.
4. If further cleaning required, use a mild non-coloured pure soap solution made from soap flakes mixed with warm water and immediately dry the area.
5. Clean the affected area with an approved cleaning agent. (Refer to handy hints below before attempting to spot clean).

IMPORTANT: Before using any cleaning solution, be sure and “pre-test” on a hidden area before attempting to remove any stain.

Handy hints for spot cleaning:

. Always work from the outer edge towards the centre of any stain. If the stain is smaller than a 10-cent piece use a cotton bud or cloth ball for better results. Have patience – some stains remove slowly.

. Blot the stained area with a dry, white, clean cloth to remove as much of the liquid as possible. Dampen a clean cloth with a mild non-coloured pure soap solution made from soap flakes mixed with warm water and continue to blot the area.
Immediately dry the area with a dry cloth to avoid any residue marks being left.
