The Home Team’s Kid’s Bedroom Reveal
The first room to be completed on The Home Team show was the colourful kid’s bedroom. What do you think? We adore the lively the colour palette!
We all know kids’ bedrooms can get a bit “busy” and while there is a lot going on in this room, The Home Team have created a space that is colourful, warm and fun. Here’s what works:
It feels finished
One of the reasons this room is successful is that it is well thought out. The Home Team interior stylist, Julia Green points specifically to the wallpaper and the artwork. These aren’t items necessary to all bedrooms, however they do add a “considered and finished” feel, says Julia.
There is colour
Let’s take a look at the bed. The Home Team have used the steel Willow single bed in aqua. This bed looks great as a standout piece against neutral colours in a bedroom. Or, as we see here, complemented with more bright coloured furniture, such as the Replica Anna Castelli in yellow used as a bedside table.
The layered look
This kid’s bedroom has really taken the idea of layering on board with its bed linen. As Julia says, there’s nothing more fun than having a play and experimenting with textures and different pattern.
If you’re going to try clashing patterns and textures, the kid’s bedroom is certainly a great place to do it! It adds depth and an element of playfulness.
A reversible duvet cover with a board game theme (snakes and ladders one side, dice on the other) is well suited to a kid’s bedroom. This has been layered with more patterned pillowcases and a velvet cushion.
The handmade felt bunting was made especially to match the colours of this room so all the elements tie together nicely, says Julia.
Motifs and animals
The kid’s bedroom accessories include playful animal hooks, beanbags, a wire arrow wall hanging and a round rug with a cross pattern.
The other thing we noticed in this room is its storage – there is plenty of it. From the bright yellow retro-style cabinet to the animal hooks and wire baskets, it’s important to not forget storage for kid’s rooms so they can organise their belongings!
