Vacuum your sofa weekly
Vacuuming is the best way to keep your sofa clean. Dry soils and dust are the major enemies of your new upholstered furniture. The most important aspect of proper maintenance is to vacuum often (weekly) and correctly (using crevice tools, upholstery tools, etc.). General soiling from clothing, shoes, children, pets, plants, body oils, hair oils, and perspiration; as well as atmospheric airborne soils from ventilation systems, fireplaces, wood stoves, cooking oils and household dust will accumulate on your upholstered furniture. If not
vacuumed regularly, every-day general soiling will settle between the individual fibres of the fabric and eventually dull, discolour and damage your valuable sofa. Vacuum regularly to slow down this process.

Flip your cushions when you vacuum
If your sofa has reversible cushions, you should interchange and flip them over every time you vacuum. You will need to ensure equal use of the cushions to extend the overall life of your upholstered sofa.

Steam or Dry Cleaning
You should steam or dry clean your sofa regularly to maintain the fabric.

Be sure to keep your furniture out of direct or indirect sunlight
Almost every fabric will lighten in colour or fade over a period of time. The extent of damage depends on the location, exposure, colour, intensity of light, types of dyes, fibres and yarns used.

Handy hints for spot cleaning

Always work from the outer edge of any stain toward the centre
If a stain is smaller than a 10 cent coin you will achieve a better result by applying cleaning fluid to a cotton bud or a cotton ball. Have patience, some stains respond slowly. When you have finished using the
spot cleaner, blot the area thoroughly with a clean warm damp cloth. Blot dry with a clean dry cloth. This should prevent any residual marks being left by the cleaner.

Ensure you call within fourteen days of the staining and attempted removal.  Remember, the key to stain removal is to act immediately.
It is the responsibility of the customer to use the spot cleaner supplied and pretest before cleaning. Fantastic Furniture is not responsible for any damage or yellowing of fabric caused by improper cleaning solutions or methods used.

When purchasing the SofaShield Warranty you would have received a 100ml bottle of spot cleaner. To use the cleaner, follow the instructions in the handy hints for spot cleaning
section of this booklet. If after following this procedure the stain cannot be removed, call
the toll free hotline 1800 630 700 for assistance.

SofaShield Warranty Exclusions

  1. General everyday soiling or build up over time resulting from normal use. The SofaShield
  2. Warranty is NOT a cleaning contract and does not cover the cleaning of furnishings that are soiled through daily use.
  3. Stains which are the result of mishandling, abuse or neglect of the furnishings.
  4. Furnishings which have not been properly maintained or have general spilling, furnishings that have been the subject to misuse, vandalism or have been altered in any way.
  5. Furnishings used for commercial or rental purpose.
  6. Stains not attended to promptly and not reported within fourteen days of occurrence.
  7. Stains which are unidentifiable.
  8. Burns, rips/tears and fading.
  9. Build up of pet hair and damage caused by pets or animals.
  10. Damage caused in or by transit.
  11. Stains caused by transfer of dyestuffs from other items onto the sofa upholstery.
  12. Causes of damage beyond the control of the warranty holder, such as fire, flood, wind, lightning, property, structural, casualty damage or any other natural disasters.

SofaShield Warranty is only valid in Australia

Fantastic Furniture will not be liable for any consequential or indirect damage of any kind and, shall only be required to service the stained furnishings as outlined in this brochure. The SofaShield Warranty is in lieu of all other warranties, expressed or implied and no one is authorised to assume or undertake for Fantastic Furniture any other liability in connection with the sale of this product.
The addition of any fabric protector will void the SofaShield Warranty. For the warranty to be valid, you must follow all instructions provided in this care guide.

Prior to telephoning the SofaShield Warranty hotline you will need:

  • Your Sales Invoice for the furniture covered by the SofaShield Warranty;
  • Your full name and address;
  • Your daytime and evening telephone numbers;
  • Details of the furniture covered by the SofaShield Warranty;
  • Your SofaShield Warranty proof of purchase; and
  • Specific details of the stain and how it occurred.

To be eligible for the SofaShield Warranty you must:

  1. Report all possible claims through the SofaShield Warranty toll free hotline 1800 630 700 within fourteen days of the stain occurring.
  2. Clean the stained area only as directed by the SofaShield Warranty brochure using only recommended cleaning methods and products. If the stain is not successfully removed, you must call the SofaShield Warranty hotline within fourteen days of the initial staining for further assistance.
  3. Clean the stained area only as directed by the SofaShield Warranty customer serviceoperator using recommended cleaning methods and products only.
  4. Provide proof of purchase of a Fantastic Furniture Sofa by providing copies of the retail sales receipt showing the purchase of both the furniture and the SofaShield Warranty.
As previously mentioned, fabric covered furniture should be vacuumed weekly, kept out of direct and indirect sunlight and cleaned periodically. The SofaShield Warranty will become null and void if you fail to pretest fabric in a hidden area. Only use the toll free hotline number for stain removal advice and to request professional help under the terms and conditions of the SofaShield Warranty.

Terms & Conditions of the SofaShield Warranty
The SofaShield Warranty only applies to new furnishings intended for private and domestic
use and which is delivered to the consumer soil free. The SofaShield Warranty is limited to
authorised cleaning agents only, is not a general cleaning service and is limited to the service of the affected areas of the furnishings only.  The removal of a stain is not guaranteed if the warranty holder is unable to identify how the stain occurred.  If within 5 years of purchasing the SofaShield Warranty, the covering fabric of the furnishings covered by this warranty absorbs a stain which cannot be removed using our recommended methods, a professional cleaning technician will service the affected area, or depending on the type of stain and location of stain, the affected area of furnishing will be recovered or replaced at no cost to the warranty holder.  Should the professional cleaning technician be unable to remove a stain covered by this warranty, the affected area of furnishing will either be
recovered or replaced if the original fabric is still available. An exact colour match cannot be guaranteed due to variation in dye lots. If the original fabric is no longer available you may choose a similar fabric from the current equivalent price range. Where replacement is undertaken this will only be up to the original price of the item paid by the warranty holder. Where the SofaShield Warranty has replaced furniture, the replaced furniture will no longer be eligible under the terms of the original SofaShield Warranty.  Furniture replacement requires the warranty holder to relinquish ownership of all replaced items.
